Lagos Life furniture prices in the catalogue are base prices checked on 7 October. Use the shop’s current quote if a price differs. An action can still need power, ingredients, a skill, or another unlock.
Laptop, mirror or guitar: useful furniture by unlock
| Object | Base price | Floor cells | Training action | Paid-action gate |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standing Mirror | ₦1,700 | 1 × 1 | Practice Speech → Charisma | No earning action listed on the object. |
| Dumbbell Rack | ₦3,400 | 1 × 1 | Work Out → Fitness | Fitness supports career entry and promotion. |
| Bookshelf | ₦3,600 | 1 × 1 | Read Business Book → Hustle | Read a Novel is a separate activity. |
| Acoustic Guitar | ₦4,200 | 1 × 1 | Practice Guitar → Music | Write a Banger at Music 3. |
| Laptop Desk | ₦18,000 | 2 × 2 | Practice Coding → Coding | Freelance Gig at Coding 2; Instagram shop uses Hustle. |
The Lagos Life laptop uses four floor cells; the other objects above use one each. In a crowded room, a cheaper 1 × 1 skill object can meet the next career requirement without a move. If the starter radio and stove are still placed, Dance and Cooking can begin without another equipment purchase. Compare the exact training actions.
How to buy and place Lagos Life furniture
- Return home and open Buy mode. On a keyboard, B opens it and C opens the Catalogue. On touch, use the game’s Buy and catalogue controls.
- Choose the object and read its current price. Check its footprint against the available floor before confirming.
- Move it with the arrow keys or placement controls. R rotates a selected object on a keyboard; touch placement also offers movement controls.
- Confirm with Enter or the offered place control. Exit Buy mode, select the object, and choose the action you bought it for.
A Foam Mattress takes 1 × 2 cells. Leave an open approach as well as space for the footprint: an object inside a crowded corner can prevent the Sim from reaching it.
Esc cancels a placement or closes the current control; to rearrange an object, move or rotate it. Del sells the selected furniture.
Electricity and fuel: the cost beyond the object
Ring Light & Phone Stand, Rain Shower, Standing Fan, and the TV require electricity. Film a Comedy Skit and Paid Skit for a Brand need power at home. Edit & Sell Photos also needs power, although Practise Photography on the camera does not. Read the action condition rather than assuming every option on an object works during an outage.
Home power can come from NEPA, a Solar + Inverter setup, or a generator with fuel. The generator’s base purchase price is ₦14,400; Solar + Inverter is ₦78,000. Buy Fuel (8h) has a ₦1,200 base cost and 20-game-minute action duration, adding eight hours of generator fuel. A generator with an empty tank does not solve the outage.
If you already have grid power, the ₦9,500 ring light is the equipment purchase for Comedy training. Buying both it and a generator totals ₦23,900 before fuel or other costs. Compare that larger plan with your unpaid bills. A bucket bath, basic stove, mirror, guitar, or radio may cover the immediate task while you save for power.
Why owning an object does not unlock every action
A cooker needs food ingredients. Cook Jollof requires one unit each of rice, Gino, Maggi, and oil. A camera’s paid editing action requires Photography 3, while its practice action supports training toward that level. A Ring Light & Phone Stand provides paid brand work only once Comedy reaches 3 and home power is available.
Read the action label after placing the furniture. If you bought a laptop for Coding, select Practice Coding first when the Freelance Gig says Needs Coding 2. Run Instagram Shop is a different earning path on the same object. The catalogue lists available actions; it does not waive their skill gates or supply groceries.
Fix “furniture is in the way”
When the game cannot reach an action object, it tells you to move furniture around in Buy mode. Open Buy, select the blocking piece, move or rotate it, and leave a clear route to the object you want to use. Exit Buy mode and select the action again; the failed queue entry may already have been removed.
If the message instead says Queue full, cancel an unwanted action. The queue holds six entries, so rearranging the room does not solve that limit. If the message names an ingredient, power, or skill level, fix that condition rather than buying a replacement object.
Storage, moving, and selling furniture
After a same-city house move, owned pieces that do not fit the new room are packed into storage. Open Buy → Storage and place them without buying them again. Check there before reporting a bed or laptop missing from the floor. Your new home’s starter list describes character creation; it is not a fresh shopping credit after every move.
Selling a placed object returns 60% of its base price, rounded to the nearest ₦100. For a ₦18,000 Laptop Desk, that is ₦10,800, not the full purchase price. Rebuying later can therefore cost more than keeping the object and rearranging it. Compare the sale proceeds with the bill you are trying to cover before confirming.
A house move adds its quoted advance and agent fee. Compare the destination’s weekly rent separately.
